Chikkamagaluru: A youth who went missing near Rani Jhari, a famous tourist spot of Balur Hobli in Mudigere taluk, was found dead on Saturday.
Rescue teams found the body of the youth, Bharat (30) a native of Bengaluru, at the foot of a hill cliff near Rani Jhari on Saturday afternoon. It is believed that the death was caused by the fall.
Bharat had reportedly come to Durgada Halli on December 6 for a solo trek to Rani Jhari. His family had lost contact with him and his mobile was unreachable. His kin arrived from Bengaluru on Friday and lodged a missing complaint at the Balur police station.
A search and rescue operation was launched on Saturday morning. The youth’s bike was found parked near Rani Jhari, with his mobile phone, T-shirt, slippers, and other belongings were found nearby.
The search team descended the hill from the Maidadi side and spotted the body in an area falling under the Belthangadi taluk. It is gathered that the young man fell from about four thousand feet height into the precipice and his body was found dismembered and decomposed.
A case of suicide?
The body was found in the abyss directly below the viewpoint near Rani Jhari. Some suspect that the youth may have juped from the cliff to his death, however, police have not made any official statement in this regard.
It is gathered that Bharat was an engineering graduate and had been laid off recently by a private company in Bengaluru.
