A joint operation led by Konaje police station in-charge Balakrishna H.N., along with mine and geology officials, was conducted on the Netravati river bank in Kadavi, Harekala, to curb illegal sand mining. The operation resulted in the seizure of two boats.

Acting on a tip-off regarding illicit sand transportation via boats, the police and mine department officials initiated the raid. The sand mafia had been exploiting the river’s resources, transporting sand through boats, and supplying it to local households.

The accused involved in the illegal sand mining operation are currently at large, and efforts are underway to apprehend them.
