Mangaluru: Custom officials seize over Rs 60 lac gold from 3 passengers

Customs officials at Mangaluru International Airport confiscated 24-carat gold, weighing 969 grams from three passengers on December 11.
Based on profiling, the customs sleuths intercepted the three passengers, traveling from Dubai to Mangaluru on Air India Express flight and subjected them to frisking.
Two passengers were found to have concealed gold, in the form of yellow-collared paste inside the soles of shoes while the other passenger had concealed gold inside chocolate boxes and bedspread packets.
The value of the seized gold is estimated at Rs 60,07,800.
