In an unexpected turn of events on December 14, the sanctity of India’s Parliament House was disrupted as two intruders breached security, causing a stir during ongoing proceedings. The incident, stemming from the alleged misuse of audience passes issued by Mysuru MP Pratap Simha’s office, has become a focal point of heated debate, leading to protests by the Congress party.
Following the incident, Pratap Simha promptly met with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to provide an account of the situation.
According to Sinha, the father of one of the accused is from the Mysuru constituency, and the visit to the new Parliament House was supposedly facilitated by a pass from his office.
He reportedly said the accused had been in constant touch with his personal assistant and office staff for the past couple of months to visit the newly built Parliament.
During the meeting with Speaker Birla, Pratap clarified that he had no additional information about the accused individuals and disassociated himself from any prior knowledge of their actions.
The breach unfolded as Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan, seated in the visitors’ gallery, entered the House brandishing gas canisters. The duo, responsible for releasing yellow gas, were intercepted by MPs as they made their way towards the Speaker, adding a dramatic element to the unfolding events.
Upon discovering that the accused had gained entry to the Lok Sabha using a visitor’s pass issued in Pratap Sinha’s name, Congress workers staged a protest in front of his office in Mysuru.
