Heartwarming wedding at Nittur Mahila Nilaya: 2 women tie the knot with their soulmates

Udupi: In a heartwarming celebration held at the Mahila Nilaya in Nittur, a model wedding unfolded. Two young women who had found shelter and support at the center for several years tied the knot in a simple ceremony.
Sheela found her life partner in Ganesh Shastri, a farmer from Kundapura while Kumari found companionship with Shreedhar Bhat, from Yellapur, Uttara Kannada district.
Their unions were celebrated in the presence of the district officials.
Dr. K. Vidyakumari, the Udupi District Deputy Commissioner, presided over the ceremonial proceedings, officiating the unions and bringing joy to the lives of the two couples. The occasion was graced by the presence of esteemed representatives, including dignitaries, officials, journalists, and members of the public, who served as witnesses to the heartening event.
Following the rituals and celebrations, a lavish feast awaited the guests, featuring an array of delectable dishes and beverages. Post-ceremony, the Director of the Women’s Hostel, Pushparani, alongside witnesses, formalized the marriages by registering them at the registrar’s office.
The event was not only a celebration of love and union but also a momentous occasion supported by public figures and officials. Prominent personalities such as MLA Yashpal Suvarna, Deputy District Commissioner Mamata Devi, Udupi Superintendent of Police Dr. Arun K., among others, extended their felicitations and blessings to the newlyweds, emphasizing the significance of such unions in society.
