Bantwal: 32-year-old woman ends life

Bantwal: A 32-year-old woman ended her life by jumping into the Phalguni River.

The deceased, identified as Vita Marina D’Souza, a resident Airody of Kukkipadi village.

Vita had left home on Saturday evening on a 2-wheeler. She went missing thereafter. Locals found the scooter on the Phalguni River bridge.

A search and rescue operation was launched and her body was found near the Bahugrama drinking water dam on Sunday morning.

It is gathered that Vita Marina had recently filed a police complaint at the Bantwal rural police station about losing Rs 21 lakhs to a bogus online investment app. It is suspected that this financial distress could have precipitated the extreme step.

A case has been registered at the Bantwal rural police station in this regard.
