Illegal rock blasting using explosives: Padubidri police arrest one, seize equipment

Padubidri: Acting on reliable information, Padubidri police conducted a raid at a site near Nandikur industrial area and seized four tippers, a Hitachi machine, and a compressor tractor used for illegally blasting rocks using explosives.
Upon reaching the site, police found that the accused had blasted rocks and had loaded them into the lorry for transportation. The accused did not obtain the requisite permit for the use of explosives for rock blasting from the concerned department, police said.
Manjunath Naikar who was facilitating the blasting at the site has been arrested by the police. However, the tipper lorry driver managed to flee from the spot.
Naikar during the questioning revealed that the site, belongs to Ivan and Veronica alias Sherwin had been given the contract for rock blasting.
A case has been registered against the site owner Ivan, Veronica, Manjunath Naikar, and others in this regard.
