Mangaluru police announces guidelines for New Year’s celebrations

As the New Year approaches, Mangaluru Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal has revealed detailed guidelines for public safety during the festive celebrations, extending until 10:00 PM in outdoor spaces such as beaches and parks.
Key Guidelines:
1. Outdoor celebrations are permitted until 10:00 PM, providing a designated timeframe for the New Year celebrations.
2. Hotels, churches, resorts, and similar indoor establishments are allowed to continue celebrations until 12:30 AM.
3.Extensive police deployment, including 850 personnel and officials, will be in place to enforce regulations. Violations will result in necessary actions being taken.
4. Eight anti-rowdy teams, three KSRP (Karnataka State Reserve Police) platoons wil be deployed.
5. 66 sector mobile units will monitor the situation, ensuring enhanced security during the festive period.
6. Netravati and Giri squads will actively prevent moral policing incidents, ensuring swift and appropriate responses to any untoward activities.
7. 17 Hoysala vehicles will patrol the streets to manage traffic, alongside strict vigilance against drunk driving and unruly behavior.
8. The police will implement widespread measures against substance abuse, with special attention to apartments, homestays, and resorts to prevent illegal rave parties.
Commissioner Anupam Agarwal said that police authorities have already granted permissions for indoor events, with 36 permits issued for activities within enclosed spaces. He emphasized the need for public cooperation and adherence to regulations, reinforcing the commitment of the police department to maintaining law and order during the New Year festivities.
