Late on Friday night, an unsettling incident unfolded at the Shanubhag complex off National Highway 66 in Thekkatte. A group of masked individuals made a brazen attempt to burgle a gold shop, their actions were captured by a CCTV camera within the complex.
This alarming event follows a previous attempted break-in on December 21, where thieves targeted the Meenakshi Furniture showroom, a warehouse, and a tailor shop situated in the Samriddhi Complex which is situated near Canara Bank, Thekkatte.
Now, these perpetrators have seemingly targeted the gold shop, sparking worry among the local populace.
Despite the circulating footage on social media, the affected shop owners have hesitated to formally report the incident to the police, raising significant public concern and discussion.
In addition to the attempted break-in at the gold shop, the group was also observed on CCTV cameras loitering around several other shops within the Shanubhag complex.
Reacting to a query about the viral visuals, Udupi Superintendent of Police Dr. Arun K said that no formal police complaint has been filed regarding the 2 incidents so far. Appropriate action will be taken in this regard, he added.
