Belthangady: Friend bites off man’s nose during brawl at New Year’s party

A man’s nose was bitten off by his friend in a drunken brawl on New Year’s Eve, on Sunday, December 31.
The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Deekshit from Ulpe in Pilya village. suffered severe injuries in the altercation. His friend Rakesh has been identified as the perpetrator.
Rakesh, originally from Mudigere taluk, resided at a relative’s house in Pillya while working at a local shop.
A group of youths had gathered in Pilya for a New Year party. During the celebrations, an altercation broke out over a minor issue. The matter soon escalated, and in a drunken stupor, Rakesh allegedly bit Deekshit’s nose off.
Deekshit was rushed to Belthagady Government Hospital and later referred to the Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru for further medical treatment.
Venur police have recorded the victim’s statement.
