Udupi: Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji accorded heartwarming welcome during ‘Pura Pravesha’

The Paryaya celebrations for 2024 began today, January 8, with the ceremonial “Pura Pravesha” of his holiness Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji. The citizens of Udupi expressed their warm welcome and deep reverence for the new Paryaya Swamiji.

The event commenced at 3:30 pm as Sri Sugunendrateertha Sripada, and his disciple Sri Sushreendra Theertha Sripada were greeted at Jodukatte. They proceeded towards the Sri Krishna Matha in a traditional procession atop a chariot, accompanied by musicians and bhajan groups. The procession followed a route through KM Marg, Triveni Circle, Sanskrit College, and Kanakadasa Road before arriving at Car Street.

The revered seer is set to ascend the ‘Sarvajna Peetha’ on January 18 for the fourth time, having previously done so in 1972, 1992, and 2008.
