A massive tree collapsed onto a moving vehicle on Monday, January 8 at Bilinele Kaikamba junction on the Subramanya-Dharmasthala state highway.
The driver, identified as Shekhar from Nettana, sustained head injuries in the incident, and the Tata Sumo vehicle suffered extensive damage. The fallen tree also caused collateral damage to a nearby shop, injuring its owner, Rajesh, and partial damage to the establishment. Both injured individuals are receiving medical attention, while the incident also led to the uprooting of electricity poles.
Prompt emergency response teams, comprising the Kadaba tahsildar, Subramanya zonal forest officer, Bilinele gram panchayat representatives, Kadaba police, and Mescom personnel, swiftly arrived at the scene to clear the fallen tree.
Locals have urged the concerned authorities to pay compensation to the victims and Forest officer Vimal Babu has promised appropriate action.
