Bengaluru: A passenger aboard a SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru found himself stuck inside a lavatory for more than an hour due to an alleged malfunction in the door lock.
The male passenger reportedly entered the lavatory after the seat belt sign was turned off post-takeoff from Mumbai. However, an issue with the door lock left him trapped until the aircraft landed in Bengaluru, where technicians were able to rectify the situation.
SpiceJet issued a statement expressing regret for the incident and assured that the passenger received continuous assistance throughout the journey.
“On 16 January, a passenger unfortunately got stuck inside the lavatory for about an hour on SpiceJet flight operating from Mumbai to Bengaluru, while the aircraft was airborne due to a malfunction in the door lock. Throughout the journey, our crew provided assistance and guidance to the passenger,” SpiceJet stated.
“Upon arrival, an engineer opened the lavatory door, and the passenger received immediate medical support. SpiceJet regrets and apologises for the inconvenience caused to the passenger,” the company added.
