Hunsur: A 19-year-old girl drowned to death after being pushed into the lake by her brother in Marur of Hunsur taluk. Tragically her mother who rushed to rescue her daughter, also drowned in the water.
The deceased are identified as Anitha (43) and her daughter Dhanushree (19), a final-year college student.
The accused Nitish has been arrested by the police.
As per reports, Dhanushree was in love with a youth from another community. When Nitish came to know about it, he had an argument with Dhanushree. He also informed the family and there was a quarrel over the issue.
Recently, Dhanushree posted a photo her wearing a burqa and wrote about changing her name on Instagram. Nitish noticed this and told his mother and also fought with his sister.
On Tuesday, Nitish took his mother and sister on a bikesaying that they would drop her at their grandmother’s house in Hammige.
On the way Nitish, stopped the bike near a lake in Marur, got down and pushed his sister into the lake. When Anitha saw Dhanushree drowning in the water, she rushed to rescue her but ended up drowning too.
Fire brigade personnel recovered their bodies on Wednesday morning.
