Davanagere police have arrested two persons in separate cases over objectionable social media posts that could disturb communal harmony.
In one of the cases, a man had made derogatory remarks against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on the issue of declaring a holiday for the Ram Temple consecration ceremony. The post was circulated on WhatsApp group.
KTJ Nagar Police managed to trace the mobile number from which the messages were sent and arrested the accused.
In the second case, a youth was arrested for using the image of Holy Medina mosque to make a video that could hurt Muslim sentiments. The same was circulated among his family and friends.
Reacting to the above cases, Davanagere SP Uma Prashanth cautioned the public to exercise caution and refrain from posting provocative, blasphemous, hate speech, and anti-national posts on social media. She warned of action against the guilty.
