Lok Sabha Elections: Karnataka Congress mulls recommending one candidate per constituency

Bengaluru: The Congress party in Karnataka is considering proposing a “single candidate” for endorsement by the high command in around twelve Lok Sabha constituencies for the upcoming general elections.

Discussions were reportedly held during a dinner organized by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, attended by in-charge ministers and senior party leaders.

The focus is on presenting only one candidate’s name for approval in each of the 12 to 15 Lok Sabha constituencies. The High Command has instructed a swift finalization of the candidate list, urging in-charge ministers to submit a comprehensive list within 2-3 days.

Instead of suggesting multiple names, it is planned to propose a single candidate. The party is also contemplating introducing fresh faces in some constituencies, signaling a strategic move for the upcoming elections.
