A forgery case has been registered against four persons for creating fake hospital bills for claiming medical insurance.

Based on a complaint filed by the insurance company, police have booked Zaheenab Muzaffar and his accomplices Muzaffar Ali Mohammad Sharif, Lubhabanu, and Furkan Muzaffar.

The incident dates back to 2019 when the main accused Zaheenab was admitted to a private hospital in Udupi in August. He was treated as an outpatient.

However, later Zaheenab along with the other accused created duplicate bills and a discharge summary from the hospital by forging the doctor’s signature and submitting it to the insurance company for reimbursement.

The fraud came to light when the insurance company sent the bills to the hospital to verify their authenticity.

Later a case was filed at Udupi town police station.
