Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy slammed the state government over the issuance of an order to recover the expenses of the SSLC preparatory examination from the students.

In a series of tweets, the JDS leader stated that this is evidence of poor governance by the state Congress government which prides itself on the implementation of the five guarantees, and demanded that the government withdraw the order immediately.

He also shared a copy of the government order on his X account. “The government is giving out benefits with one hand and snatching it from people like Ravana with 10 hands. Now they have put their hands in the pockets of SSLC students,” Kumaraswamy said.

He further stated that the government, which was involved in illegal extortion has now resorted to committing extortion legally. “The shameless government is trying to recover the cost of the preparatory examination for the year 2023-24, scheduled to be held from February 26 to March 3, from the children themselves,” he said.

The Chairman of the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) has directed headmasters of all government schools to recover the expenses towards the cost of preparation, printing, and transportation of question papers from the students and deposit the amount in the account of the deputy director (administration) of the department. “This is an example of how bankrupt the government is,” the former CM said.
