Upalokayukta Justice  K.N.Phaneendra conducted thorough inspections at the district hospital, state women’s home, and student hostels. The focus of the assessment included evaluating basic infrastructure, nutritional provisions, cleanliness, medical amenities, and the status of children’s education.

During the inspection, Justice  K.N.Phaneendra  meticulously reviewed public complaints lodged in designated boxes across surgical, women and children wards, emergency units, and the medicine distribution center. Engaging with patients, he sought firsthand information regarding their treatment, food quality, and medication administration.

Expressing his commitment to enhancing healthcare services, Justice Phanindra proposed the establishment of neurology, nephrology, and cardiology departments, potentially elevating the district hospital into a super-speciality facility. This recommendation is anticipated following a formal request from the district hospital’s in-charge.

In interactions with students,  K.N.Phaneendra emphasized the importance of providing nutritious food, ensuring adequate lighting, maintaining clean environments, establishing libraries and computer facilities, and organizing special monthly lectures to boost their preparation for competitive exams.

To enhance computer education, the Upalokayukta suggested utilizing qualified lecturers to impart knowledge in a manner easily comprehensible to students. Hostel facilities were also under scrutiny, with a directive to ensure each student has a bed and cot, and that water scarcity issues are promptly addressed.

Evaluating the quality of food and medical services in women’s homes, Upalokayukta recommended an increase in remuneration for self-employed individuals, particularly those engaged in incense stick making and tamarind seed removal.

The inspection witnessed the presence of key officials, including Deputy Commissioner Dr. Vidyakumari, CEO of Zilla Panchayat Prateek Bayal, Lokayukta Mangaluru Superintendent C A Simon, SP Dr. Arun K, M V Channakeshava Reddy, Rangegowda, Kiran P M Patil, and others. The visit aimed to address and improve various facets of healthcare and education facilities in the region.
