Puttur: After the three-day ultimatum set by the Puthila Parivar for the BJP to decide on key demands for merger lapsed on February 8, BJP leaders have signaled their approval for the proposed merger with the Puthila Parivar.

It is gathered that leaders from the BJP have agreed to grant a suitable position to Arun Puthila. Informing the ‘Puthila Parivar’ about this decision seems to have set a favorable moment. The final arrangements are expected to be made soon, sources said.

Former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, State BJP President B Y Vijayendra, State general secretary (organisation) Rajesh K V, and BJP District President Satish Kumpala held discussions with Arun Puthila, assuring him of an honorable position within the party. Sources close to the ‘Puthila Parivar’ disclosed that Arun Puthila has accepted the proposal put forth by the senior BJP party members.

In response, the Puthila Parivar expressed contentment, stating that both the Puthila Parivar and BJP members are pleased with the recent developments. Arun Puthila is scheduled to meet the BJP state president in Bengaluru shortly to formalize the merger.

Three-day Ultimatum:

The Puthila Parivar had set a three-day deadline during their consultation meeting on February 5, leaving BJP supporters in anticipation of the party’s response. The Puthila Parivar insisted on Arun Kumar Puthila being appointed as the Mandal president or assigning the responsibility of Mandal President or Secretary to a member of the Puthila Parivar.

While some BJP and Sangh Parivar leaders supported this demand, others opposed it, fearing it might send the wrong message. Consequently, the district committee deferred the decision on the inclusion of the Puttila Parivar to senior party members.

Puthila Parivar President Prasanna Kumar Martha commented that the recent developments align with their expectations, ensuring the fulfillment of the desires of activists from both factions in the coming days.
