Davanagere: A case has been registered against former Deputy Chief Minister KS Eshwarappa at the Davangere Badavane (Extension) police station for making a provocative speech.

The case stems from a fiery speech delivered by Eshwarappa on Thursday during the swearing-in ceremony of the district BJP president at the Shamanur Parvatamma Shivshankarappa Kalyana Mantapa in Davanagere.

In his address, Eshwarappa made a contentious statement, suggesting the enactment of a law that would “authorize to gun down” individuals who want to “divide the nation” such as D K Suresh and Vinay Kulkarni.

This statement has drawn sharp criticism and led to a complaint being filed against him by Hanumanthappa, a resident of Davangere.

Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwar and Davanagere District Superintendent of Police Uma Prashant confirmed the registration of the case against Eshwarappa.

The complainant expressed concern over the provocative nature of Eshwarappa’s remarks, citing potential risks to public order and inter-community harmony. “The statement made by Eshwarappa is alarming, as it incites violence and fosters animosity between communities,” the complaint said.
