Mangaluru: BJP MLAs and leaders of pro-Hindu organizations called for action against a teacher who allegedly made derogatory remarks about Hinduism and Hindu gods during a class.
MLA Bharath Shetty and Vedavyasa Kamath, along with parents, activists, and leaders, gathered at the Zilla Panchayat office demanding the dismissal of the teacher and legal action against them.
Expressing outrage, one leader questioned the teacher’s authority to discuss topics like Rama, emphasizing the importance of respectful teaching.
The District Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) confirmed that officials have been dispatched to investigate the matter and that appropriate action will follow.
MLA Vedavyasa Kamath urged for immediate action, asserting the credibility of the children’s accounts. The demand was made for the teacher’s suspension pending investigation.
On February 8, while teaching a lesson on “Work is Worship,” the teacher allegedly insulted Hinduism, sparking animosity among the children, the complaint says.
The complainants allege that the teacher’s actions aimed to sow seeds of “religious discord among the children” and potentially facilitate “conversion” from Hinduism to another religion.
