Ramanagara: The protest by lawyers in Ramanagara against the police has escalated, taking a political turn. The lawyers are demanding the suspension of a PSI for allegedly filing a false FIR. This dispute has led to political accusations.
A group of lawyers staged a round-the-clock protest in front of the Ramanagara District Collector’s office on Monday. Opposition leader R Ashok and former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy joined the protest late at night to discuss the matter with the lawyers.
According to the protesting lawyers, the FIR in question is alleged to have been filed to protect the minorities.
Meanwhile, with ongoing assembly proceedings, the opposition plans to address the lawyers’ struggle in today’s session.
Former CM HD Kumaraswamy and opposition leader R Ashok have pledged to protest against the DK brothers in the Legislative Assembly today, assuring the lawyers that justice will be served.
Late on Monday evening, the lawyers blockaded the offices of the district Deputy Commissioner (DC) and the district superintendent of police, preventing them from leaving. Both gates were occupied by protesting lawyers, and the DC Dr Avinash Menon Rajendran, superintendent of police Karthik Reddy, and other officials were confined to the office.
