Mangaluru: A  Chinese boat was discovered within Indian waters, prompting swift action from the Coast Guard and the police.

The vessel was sighted deep at sea near Kumta, raising suspicions of espionage activities directed towards the Karwar Seabird naval base.

An ongoing investigation, led by both the Coast Guard and Coastal Police Force, has been initiated following information provided by local fishermen who encountered the Chinese boat near Kumta.

Authorities have identified the vessel as registered in China’s Fuzhou port. Inspector Victor Naiman of the Coastal Police Force stationed at Kumata is spearheading the investigation.

A team of Coastal Police, under Inspector Victor Naiman’s leadership, is actively gathering additional intelligence from fishermen in the vicinity.

Video footage capturing the Chinese boat was obtained from the Sibandi, a fishing vessel departing from Kumata.

With suspicions of potential espionage, the Indian Army has remained vigilant, while the Coast Guard maintains heightened readiness.
