Udupi: A case has been filed at Hiriadka police station about alleged financial irregularities at MSPC’s head office, following a complaint from Secretary Yashodha to the Child Development Department.
The complaint alleges financial irregularities amounting to lakhs of rupees at the head office of MSPC, a supplier of food to Anganwadi centers near Manjotti, Hiriadka.
According to the Department of Women and Child Welfare and Development, which oversees Anganwadi center operations, MSPC has been handling food supplies and maintaining accounts for the past 12 years.
A financial audit conducted approximately three months ago reportedly revealed a discrepancy of around Rs 18 lakhs in the organization’s books.
Upon questioning, Bhavya, an accountant in the organization, allegedly gave evasive replies. A subsequent investigation by the Deputy Director of the Women and Child Development Department uncovered large sums of money withdrawn through cheques and ATMs from the organization’s bank account.
It is alleged that Bhavya coerced the president and treasurer into signing blank cheques and company documents under threat of termination, subsequently using these to withdraw funds for personal purposes. Additionally, allegations of making threatening calls to organization members have surfaced, prompting ongoing investigation into the matter.
