Teenager missing after being washed away at Panambur Beach

Mangaluru: A teenage boy is reported missing after being swept away by a large wave while swimming at Panambur Beach.

The boy has been identified as Tukaram (13), a seventh-standard student at Meenkali Government School. He had reportedly accompanied his friend Maruti to the beach after school hours.

Witnesses observed Tukaram struggling in the water and promptly alerted the beach lifeguard. Efforts to rescue him using a jet ski proved unsuccessful.

Tukaram’s parents are migrant workers from North Karnataka residing near Baikampadi Meenkaliya.

A formal complaint has been lodged at the Panambur police station.
