Mangaluru: The body of a 13-year-old boy swept away by the sea waves at Panambur beach was found at Thannirbavi on Sunday.

The victim, Tukaram, a 7th-grade student at Baikampadi Meenkaliya Government Primary School, had gone missing after being swept away by a powerful wave while swimming at Panambur beach on February 24 afternoon.

Fishermen, upon spotting the body afloat, notified authorities. Dhanpal Salian, one of the fishermen, brought the body ashore and alerted the police.

Despite repeated warnings from school teachers advising against swimming in the sea, students continue to flout these warnings, resulting in tragic incidents like this, locals said.
