Chikkamagaluru: Woman labourer dies of KFD

Chikkamagaluru: A 43-year-old woman in Koppa has reportedly died of Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD), also known as monkey fever.
The deceased has been identified as Kotramma. She was working as a labourer at Devgan Estate under Nandi gram panchayat limits in Koppa taluk.
Kotramma was suffering from fever, fatigue, and breathing problems. Her blood sample had been sent for examination and the report confirmed the infection.
As Kotramma’s condition worsened, she was being taken to McGann Hospital in Shivamogga but she died on the way.
According to reports, Kotramma may have contracted the infection when she had gone to fetch firewood in the forest. Six more people are reported to be infected in Koppa and N.R. Pura.
