Mangaluru: Gold smuggling attempt thwarted at MIA

Officials at the Mangaluru International Airport intercepted a passenger attempting to illegally transport gold worth Rs 46 lakh concealed in his rectum, leading to his arrest on Sunday.
The individual, hailing from Kasaragod and arriving from Dubai, was apprehended after customs officials discovered three oval-shaped pellets containing a paste-like substance hidden in his rectum.
Upon inspection, it was revealed that the pellets contained 729 grams of 24-carat gold, valued at approximately Rs 45,92,700.
This incident adds to a series of similar smuggling attempts reported at Mangalore airport in the past.
