Who is Capt. Brijesh Chowta – BJP’s Nominee for Dakshina Kannada LS Seat

On Wednesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced its list of 20 candidates from Karnataka for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, among whom Capt. Brijesh Chowta stands out as the nominee for the Dakshina Kannada constituency.

Chowta’s nomination replaces incumbent MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, marking a significant development in the political landscape of the region.

Who is Capt. Brijesh Chowta?

In his social media bio, Capt. Brijesh Chowta describes himself as “Soldier – Served in the Indian Army’s Gorkha Regiment, Entrepreneur, and Cultural and Political Activist”

He graduated from St Aloysius College and pursued business management studies at the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore.

Military Service

Chowta served in the Indian Army’s for seven years, handling HR, security, operations, administration, and logistics. His tenure included service in the Infantry’s Gorkha Regiment with postings across the country.

Chowta has said his entry into the military was influenced by his involvement with organizations like the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) during his formative years. He cleared the Combined Defence Services conducted by UPSC and underwent training at OTI Chennai.

Capt. Brijesh Chowta is currently serving as the State Secretary – BJP Karnataka, and has been actively involved in grassroots politics.

Brijesh Chowta’s candidacy for the Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha seat seems to be a strategic choice to nominate a candidate with a diverse skill set and experience.
