Incumbent Lok Sabha member from Mandya, Sumalatha Ambareesh, departed for Delhi on Sunday afternoon, with plans to meet BJP National President J P Nadda on Monday. The move comes amidst political speculations and discussions regarding constituency allocations in Karnataka.
Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, accompanied by the BJP-JDS alliance candidate of Bengaluru Rural Lok Sabha constituency, Dr. C N Manjunath, had suggested the saffron party seniors a strategic proposition to let JDS contest from Mandya and to give the ticket to Sumalatha from Chikkaballapura.
In response to these dynamics, Sumalatha has now been invited by BJP leaders and subsequently made her way to Delhi on Sunday afternoon. She will reportedly meet with J P Nadda on Monday morning, suggesting significant developments on the political front.
Meanwhile, anticipation surrounds the release of the BJP’s candidate list for the state’s Lok Sabha constituencies. Although the party announced its candidates for 20 constituencies, eight remain pending.
Initially expected to be unveiled by Sunday night, the release has been postponed, likely due to recent high-profile meetings, including Kumaraswamy’s discussion with Amit Shah and Sumalatha’s upcoming rendezvous with JP Nadda. Consequently, the BJP is now anticipated to announce its list on Tuesday, March 19.
