Mangaluru: Following the announcement of the Lok Sabha Elections and the subsequent enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct, authorities in Dakshina Kannada have tightened regulations regarding the transportation of cash, electronics, and other valuable assets.
According to officials, individuals transporting cash exceeding Rs 50,000 must provide relevant documentation detailing the source, purpose, and destination of the funds. Failure to comply with these regulations may result in confiscation of the assets and initiation of legal proceedings.
To avoid such complications, it is advised to carry necessary documents such as bank slips, ATM withdrawal slips, and event invitations, particularly for transactions related to marriages and commercial activities, they said.
To enforce these measures effectively, a network of 23 check posts has been established across the DK District, including nine inter-state, seven inter-district, and seven local check-posts. These checkpoints, situated at strategic locations aim to monitor and regulate the movement of assets within the region.
Additionally, police officials have deployed traffic squads to maintain vigilance at various locations.
7 individuals externed
Furthermore, Mangaluru Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal has issued orders externing seven persons with criminal history within the City Police Commissionerate for a period of three months.
The order named the individuals to be Preetham of Kodical, Hemant alias Sonu of Urwa, Shivaraj alias Shivu of Kotekar, Edwin Rahul D’Souza of Someshwar Pilar, Ibrahim of Ullal Melangadi, Praveen Poojary of Kodical, and Mohammed Mustafa of Deralakatte.
The decision was made as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order during the electoral process. Additionally, undertakings have been obtained from 286 individuals to ensure compliance with legal requirements, police said.
