A police constable has been suspended for reportedly registering a false case against a young woman.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) S Girish issued an order suspending Constable Yadukumar, posted as a writer at the Rajarajeshwari (RR) Nagar police station, for filing a fabricated case in collusion with an accused in another case.
The man, who reportedly plotted with the constable, had been earlier arrested by the Konanakunte Police station based on the woman’s complaint that he had been blackmailing her using her private photos. Upon his release on bail, the accused purportedly incited Yaduveer to file a false case against the young woman, alleging threats and extortion.
Without notifying the young woman, the case was brought to the public prosecutor’s attention within 35 days, and a charge sheet was prepared and uploaded into the Police IT software without due investigation.
The young woman learned about the case only after the court served a notice for appearance before it. The woman registered a complaint with the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of the Kengeri Gate sub-division regarding the false case.
An internal investigation, initiated in response to the woman’s complaint, unearthed the misconduct by Constable Yadukumar. Based on the ACP’s report, DCP S Girish issued an official order suspending Yadukumar.
