Residents of villages nestled in the foothills of Pushpagiri in Dakshina Kannada are gripped by fear as the specter of Naxal activity looms large in the region. Concerns about safety have escalated to the point where villagers are hesitant to even venture out during daylight hours, fearing the potential arrival of Naxal insurgents.

The once tranquil setting, known for its natural beauty and agricultural pursuits, has now become a hotbed of anxiety and apprehension.

Previously, villagers contended with the dangers posed by wild animals such as leopards and forest creatures. However, the emergence of Naxal activity has added a new layer of unease to their daily lives.

Reports suggest that Naxal presence has been detected in Subrahmanya, Ainakidu, Balugodu, Harihara Pallattadka, Kollamogru, and Kalmakaru areas, sparking fears among locals.

The sudden surge in Naxal activity has prompted heightened security measures, with anti-Naxal forces conducting regular patrols in an effort to locate and apprehend insurgents.

Meanwhile, District Collector Mullai Mugilan has assured residents that the authorities are taking necessary measures to address the situation, emphasizing the importance of development initiatives alongside security operations. Despite reassurances from officials, the palpable fear gripping these communities underscores the urgent need for comprehensive solutions to alleviate their plight and restore a sense of safety and stability.
