Kaup: Kaup police have registered an FIR against BJP candidate Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty, and former MLA Lalaji R Mendon for violation of the election Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

The FIR has been registered based on a complaint by Vishwanath, a flying squad member of Kaup Constituency.

According to the complaint, the BJP leaders had campaigned for elections in the premises of an educational institution in Katapady on March 30.

College management handed a handheld microphone to Mendon within the college premises. The students were present during this. Kota Srinivas Poojary used the microphone to campaign for his election, which is a violation of MCC, the complaint alleged.
