Karkala: Head teacher arrested under POCSO act for harassing 14 minor schoolgirls

Karkala: Police have arrested a head teacher on accusations of sexually harassing 14 minor school girls.

The accused has been identified as Rajendra Achar (58), a Bola Vanjarakatte.

It is gathered that there had been many complaints of Achar sexually harassing minor girls at the primary school. Villagers had even accosted him and advised him to mend his ways.

Achar got into trouble when Udupi Women and Child Welfare Department officials arrived at the school and conducted a comprehensive investigation. As many as 14 students confided that the Headteacher had sexually harassed them.

Following this, the department officials registered a complaint against Achar. Karkala Rural Police took the accused into custody. A case has been registered against him under the POCSO Act.

Achar had served as a teacher at several schools. It is gathered that there were similar allegations against him at these schools too.
