Kundapura: An Eid outing turned into a tragedy as a 10-year-old boy drowned at the swimming pool of a resort in Hengavalli here on April 11. The boy’s family has blamed the negligence of the resort management for the tragedy.
The deceased has been identified as Ariz Umar S, a resident of Hoode.
It is gathered that Ibadullah and his family had been to the resort on Thursday to enjoy the Eid fetival. At around 2 pm, Ariz fell into the water while playing near the pool. As everyone was celebrating around the swimming pool, they failed to notice Ariz in peril.
Later, Ariz was pulled out of the water, given first aid and rushed to a hospital in Haladi. However, doctors pronounced the boy dead.
The boy’s family has alleged the negligence of the resort management for his death. They said the pool lacked proper life-saving equipment including life vests. There were no life guards at the pool, they alleged.
A case has been registered at Shankaranarayan Police Station.
