“No need to learn morality from …”: Udupi Congress Campaign Chief hits back

Udupi: District Congress Campaign Committee President, Alevoor Harish Kini, fired back at BJP leaders’ criticisms, saying “the Congress does not need to learn a moral lesson from BJP leaders” against whom police cases were filed for “spreading misinformation on social media” about party MPs.
In a media release, Kini responded to the critique against Congress by BJP District President Kishore Kumar during a progress review meeting of the party’s election campaign leaders.
Kini, in a biting retort, pointed out the irony in BJP leaders preaching about party discipline while “conveniently forgetting their missteps.” He referenced an incident in Kundapura where senior BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa faced embarrassment as he was confronted by a large crowd protesting against MLA Haladi Srinivas Shetty. Kini highlighted the lack of active campaigning for the party’s official candidate, Haladi, by these same leaders.
Challenging the BJP president to assess the engagement of Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar and MP Shobha Karandlaje with the district, Kini suggested that BJP leaders refrain from throwing stones while residing in glass houses.
In a counter to BJP’s allegations, Kini emphasized the electorate’s disillusionment with the BJP’s track record, labeling it a “factory of lies.” He referenced past unfulfilled promises such as the bullet train, fluctuating petrol rates, and demonetization.
Furthermore, Kini defended K Jayaprakash Hegde’s candidacy, citing his extensive track record of service as a legislator, minister, MP, and Backwards Commission chairman. “What is wrong if Hegde seeks votes based on his achievements?,” Kini asked.
