Gadag: 4 of a family brutally murdered by home intruders

Gadag: Miscreants allegedly broke into a house in Dasara Voni and brutally murdered four members of the same family in the early hours of Friday, April 19.
The victims are identified as Karthik Bakale (27) the son of the municipal council vice-chairman Sunanda Bakale, and their relatives Parashurama (55), his wife Lakshmi (45), and daughter Akanksha (16).
It is suspected that the murders took place in the late hours of Thursday night. According to initial reports, the perpetrators managed to escape, leaving behind a scene of horror and despair.
It is gathered that Parashurama and his family, who hailed from Koppal, were reportedly asleep on the residence’s first floor. They had arrived here on April 17 for a gathering of relatives for a marriage-related event.
Prakash Bakale, the father of Karthik Bakale, in his statement to the police said, that he called the police after hearing noises of someone banging on the door in the dead of the night. But, before the police could arrive the intruders had managed to escape. His son and relatives were found dead in the other 2 rooms.
Gadag Superintendent of Police B S Nemagowda told reporters that the incident occurred between 2 am and 3 am on Friday. The victims were attacked with deadly weapons. The identity of the perpetrators is yet to be ascertained. “We are investigating,” he said.
The family claimed that the intruders gained entry from the terrace, the SP said and added that it is also being investigated.
In the wake of this tragedy, Minister HK Patil, Gadag District In-charge for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, visited the grieving family to offer condolences and support. Municipal Council Vice President Sunanda Bakale also extended her sympathies to the bereaved relatives, who were overwhelmed with sorrow, and urged the authorities to swiftly apprehend the culprits responsible for the senseless act of violence.
