Congress leaders in Karkala voiced optimism and rallied support for their Lok Sabha candidate, Jayaprakash Hegde, expressing confidence in a turnaround in the upcoming elections.
A massive Vehicle Rally ‘Parivartana Jatha’ organised by the Congress Party – Karkala Assembly Constituency was launched at Pulkeri Bypass Circle on April 19 in preparation for the Lok Sabha Elections.
Addressing a massive gathering during the Parivartana Jatha rally held on Friday, Udayakumar Shetty Muniyalu, a prominent Congress leader in Karkala, highlighted the party’s renewed vigour following a narrow defeat in the previous assembly election. “We lost by a small margin last time, but this time the preference is clearly for the Congress in the constituency,” remarked Shetty.
Shetty emphasized the party’s commitment to implementing welfare schemes aimed at benefitting the marginalized sections of society. He reiterated promises made in the party manifesto, including financial support for women, employment opportunities for youth, and life insurance for poor families.
Lok Sabha candidate Jayaprakash Hegde, addressing the gathering, assured constituents of his dedication to the constituency’s development. “I understand the needs of the people and will work tirelessly for their welfare,” pledged Hegde, a seasoned politician with experience as both a minister and a parliamentarian.
The rally saw a significant turnout of supporters. Former Minister Abhayachandra Jain flagged off the rally by waving a Congress flag.
Udupi-Chikmagalur Constituency Congress candidate K Jayaprakash Hegde, and Congress leader Udayakumar Shetty Muniyalu, among others, were present.
The rally, consisting of numerous vehicles including two-wheelers and 4-wheelers, traversed through the city’s main thoroughfare before heading to a Congress’ public meeting in Hebri.
The police enforced stringent security measures.
