Charmadi witnessed hailstorms, while strong winds and thunder were reported in Neri. Rainfall persisted around Ujire and Dharamsthala.
Highway Disruptions and Traffic Woes:
Ongoing development work on the National Highway in the Nidigal-Situ-Somantadka area led to road blockages due to heavy mud, causing inconvenience to motorists. Additionally, a tanker skidding on a dirt road in Ambadtyaru added to traffic congestion.
In Kanakamajalu, a tree and an electric pole fell onto the road due to evening winds and rain, resulting in traffic blockages.
Rough Seas:
Coastal areas, including Kundapura, observed rough seas with maximum wave heights ranging from 3 to 4 feet on Thursday and Friday. Wind speeds reached up to 14 to 21 km per hour during the day.
Forecast for Coming Days
The Indian Meteorological Department predicts continued rainfall in coastal areas, including Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, over the next three days. A “Yellow Alert” has been issued for April 20 and 21, indicating a possibility of heavy rainfall.
Mangaluru recorded a maximum temperature of 34.5 degrees Celsius on Friday, slightly above normal, with minimum temperature 1.8 degrees Celsius higher than usual.
