K. Jayaprakash Hegde, the Congress candidate for the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency, highlighted the pressing issue of youth unemployment during his recent visit to various industrial units in the Hiriadka area for his campaign.

He emphasized the need for the government to foster new enterprises and ensure livelihood security for young people, expressing concern over the trend of existing industries being closed down and privatized by the central government, exacerbating the unemployment crisis.

Hegde underscored his commitment to addressing this issue if elected, outlining plans to promote the establishment of industries for job creation in both districts. He stressed the importance of providing adequate infrastructure and facilities for industrial development, lamenting the current government’s focus on supporting large enterprises over smaller ones.

Criticizing the unequal distribution of government facilities under the BJP-led administration, Hegde contrasted it with the inclusive approach during Congress rule. He also criticized the central government’s policy of waiving loans for the wealthy while neglecting the needs of the poor, pointing out the unfulfilled promises of job creation made by the ruling party over the past decade.

Reflecting on his efforts to sustain the Brahmavar Sugar Factory, Hegde expressed disappointment at its current state and pledged to explore opportunities for industrial development in its place.

Former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake lauded Hegde as a dedicated candidate committed to constituency development. He highlighted Hegde’s focus on presenting his track record of past achievements and future plans without resorting to divisive tactics based on religion or caste, emphasizing the importance of Hegde’s victory for the continued health of democracy.
