Mangaluru: A rescued python was discovered with an astonishing 11 air bullets lodged inside its body.
The discovery was made during the medical examination of the reptile, rescued from the Anegundi area.
Locals had sought help from Bhuvan Devadiga, a snake rescuer, after finding a python struggling to consume a Persian cat near Anegundi.
Upon closer examination, Devadiga found that the python had inadvertently ensnared itself in a net while attempting to devour the feline. Devadiga promptly alerted the forest department. and the trapped python was successfully rescued from its predicament. The python was taken to veterinarian Dr. Yashsavi for treatment.
However, the true extent of its suffering became apparent during further medical evaluation.
An X-ray examination conducted as part of the python’s treatment unveiled a shocking revelation – a total of 11 air gun pellets embedded within its body.
“The python might have been shot with an airgun in the past, possibly several years ago. Over time, the skin grew over some of the bullets. We’ve removed two bullets, and the python is on the path to recovery,” said Bhuvan Devadiga.
