Modi will go to jail if electoral bonds ‘scandal’ is investigated: M B Patil

Vijayapura: If the electoral bonds “scandal” is investigated, PM Narendra Modi will face jail time, said Congress leader and Karnataka Industries Minister M B Patil on Tuesday.

“The Prime Minister Modi government’s electoral bond scandal has come out. The mask of Modi’s honesty under the garb of ‘Na Khavoonga, Na Khane Doonga’ has been exposed. If there is an investigation, Modi will surely be jailed,” Patil said.

Speaking at a press conference in the city on Tuesday, he said, “In the Electoral Bond case, they (BJP) got Rs 7,600 crore by intimidating the companies. If this is investigated, Modi will be punished for sure.”

Further lambasting the ruling party’s track record, Patil remarked, “None of the promises made by Modi before assuming the post of Prime Minister have been fulfilled. The black money abroad has not returned. Instead of doubling the income of the farmers, they have oppressed the struggling farmers.”

Highlighting the disparity between promises and actions, Patil contrasted the BJP’s tenure with the Congress party’s initiatives. “BJP, which came to power on the promise of Acche Din, has increased prices in the last 10 years in the name of Acche Din. But as promised by the Congress party to the people of the state, we have carried out as promised by implementing five guarantee schemes,” he asserted.

Patil said Congress has enough candidates for the post of PM.  “If we come to power at the centre, the leaders of our party and the leaders of the allied parties will decide who will be the prime minister. The young leader of our party, Rahul Gandhi, is also capable. Many others, including senior leader Mallikarjuna Kharge, are capable of the post of prime minister,” Patil stated.

Rahul Gandhi to visit Vijayapura on April 26

Patil disclosed that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is slated to visit Vijaypura on April 26 to bolster support for party candidate Raju Algur from the Bijapur Lok Sabha constituency. The campaign meeting, scheduled for 11 a.m. at the BLLE new campus premises, is expected to draw significant attention as political fervor intensifies in the region, he added.
