Udupi: BJP Yuva Morcha leaders booked for unauthorised poster campaign

A case has been filed at the Udupi City Police Station against leaders of the BJP Yuva Morcha for conducting a poster campaign without obtaining prior permission from the Election Officer and failing to disclose the publisher’s details for printing the pamphlets, despite the Model Code of Conduct being in effect.
The incident unfolded on April 23 when activists from the BJP Yuva Morcha initiated a poster campaign targeting the Congress party in Udupi. Posters were affixed to the platform pillars of the Bannanje KSRTC bus stand and on the walls of the underpasses along the Coastal Bypass.
Violation of election norms came to light as it was discovered that the posters were put up without proper authorization and lacked essential information regarding the publisher’s identity for the printed material. Gautam Shastri, the officer of the Udupi Vidhan Sabha Constituency Flying Squad Team, registered a complaint against individuals identified as Shrivatsa, Shivprasad, Dhanush, and others associated with the Udupi Nagar BJP Yuva Morcha who spearheaded the campaign.
In response to the complaint, a case has been registered at the Udupi City Police Station.
