Mangaluru: A minor scuffle broke out outside the Capitanio polling station on Friday, while Congress candidate Padmaraj R Poojary was speaking to the media after casting his vote. Police intervened to control the chaos and dispersed the crowd.
After casting his vote, Padmaraj was speaking to the media outside the gate, when a person, named Sandeep Yekkur, raised an objection asking how long it takes to get a response.
During this time, a police officer present at the scene intervened and took Sandeep aside. This led to an argument between Sandeep and the police officer. Though people who were with Sandeep tried to pacify him, he continued to be aggressive with the police, following which the police officer sent him away with a stern warning.
After a while, another person who was in the group with Sandeep engaged in a verbal spat with the media who were filming the scenes outside the polling station. The situation at the polling station was tense following the altercation between the political workers and the media.
