Uppinangady: Groom faces case over wedding invitation’s political remark

A wedding in Kadaba taluk has sparked controversy after the Uppinangady police registered a case against the groom for a political statement made in the wedding invitation. Shivprasad Yane Ravi, son of Shivaru Shivappa Gowda, included a note in the invitation expressing support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s re-election.
The wedding between Shivprasad and Pramila K took place on April 18 at Siddivinayaka Kala Mandir. However, it was a line in the invitation letter, printed on March 1, that drew attention. The invitation had mentioned, “Your gift to us is to make Prime Minister Narendra Modi the Prime Minister again,” sparking controversy.
Upon investigation, it was revealed that the invitations were printed and distributed before the implementation of the Election Code of Conduct. Shivprasad clarified that the statement was made out of admiration for Modi and concern for the nation, denying any intent to violate the law.
Despite this explanation, a complaint was filed after the elections, leading to the registration of a case by Uppinangady police. The printing company responsible for the invitations was also summoned for questioning.
