Bengaluru: A 31-year-old man allegedly stabbed his wife to death in broad daylight near the Koramangala police station on Thursday.

The accused identified as Michael Francis, a resident of Ejipura, works as a painter while his wife, Indu used to work at a department store. Police said the duo had been married for 12 years and had two children.

As per reports Michael suspected his wife’s character and would often pick up quarrels with her. Six months ago Indu left Michael and went to her paternal home in Venkatapura, Koramangala. However, later their family members counseled the couple and they moved in together.

Recently Michael yet again assaulted his wife over suspicion. He then went to his hometown but would often come home or to Indu’s workplace and create chaos. According to sources, Indu complained to the Koramangala police about her husband’s behaviour. Later, the police officials summoned Michael to the station but he did not appear.

On Thursday Indu visited the station again asking them to warn her husband to come to his senses. So the police called him again and warned him of legal action if he did not appear at the station, sources added.

According to sources, at around 3.30 pm, Michael arrived near the police station spotted his wife, and followed her. He confronted her at the 6th block road in Koramangala for lodging a police complaint against him. Things took a drastic turn when Michael in a fit of rage stabbed Indu over 10 times with a knife in public view.

Indu sustained serious injuries in the neck and was bleeding profusely. The police were alerted and rushed to the scene within 5-6 minutes and rushed her to the nearest hospital. However, she died on the way, sources said.

A murder case has been registered in this connection and the accused has been traced and taken into custody, sources added.
