In the wake of the recent pen drive case involving alleged obscene videos, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in Bengaluru has initiated efforts to trace and assist the victims depicted in the footage.
It has come to light that the SIT officials have begun reaching out to eight individuals identified as victims in the videos, gathering essential information from them.
Among these victims, three are reportedly considering lodging formal complaints against the injustices they have suffered. However, as of now, no formal complaints have been filed. The SIT is actively recording confidential statements from certain victims, indicating the possibility of further FIRs being registered in due course.
Notably, notices have been issued to over five government women employees who are purportedly depicted in the incriminating videos. Disciplinary actions are anticipated against those proven to be involved, though there are assertions that some individuals appearing in the footage are not the ones being accused.
In a bid to ensure the safety and security of victims who may feel threatened or insecure, the SIT has assured them of deploying women police officers for their protection while in custody.
Furthermore, a helpline (6360938947) has been established by the SIT to facilitate victims and informants of alleged obscene videos.
The helpline offers a platform for individuals to report their grievances while guaranteeing confidentiality. In a press release, the SIT pledged to extend legal assistance and protective measures to those seeking justice in this matter.
