Mangaluru: Car crashes into electric pole; Miraculous escape for medical students

Medical students had a miraculous escape in a car crash that occurred late on Saturday night at Babbukatte, Thokkottu. The accident resulted in a power outage for the surrounding area till Sunday afternoon due to a broken electricity pole.

It is gathered that students from a Medical College at Deralakatte were en route to Deralkatte late at night. The tipper lorry swerved to the right while the car attempted to overtake it.  To avoid a collision, the car driver swerved to the left and lost control of the vehicle. Subsequently, the car collided with an electric pole and toppled onto a crash guard.

Fortunately,  motorists passing by managed to rescue the occupants from the overturned car. Thankfully, all occupants sustained only minor injuries.

However, the power to the areas was disrupted due to the snapping of high-tension wires following the accident. The power was restored on Sunday afternoon after repairs.

A case has been registered at the Mangaluru South Traffic Police Station.
